Lots of love

Mr and Mrs Clarke

Here at Upton Barn, we’re a wedding venue for all seasons and it has to be said, a spring love story always captures our hearts! Tuesday and Jamie’s celebration on Saturday 16th March 2024 was certainly no exception and although the weather may not have been on their side, it really was the most unforgettable day here in the Devonshire countryside…

Tuesday and Jamie had previously attended a wedding at Upton Barn & Walled Garden back in 2018 and therefore knew how much they already loved it. Over the years, we have restored, renovated and added to the venue, so we were incredibly excited to welcome the soon-to-be newlyweds back to see the changes in all their glory. “When we started venue hunting, we both a feeling that Upton was going to be ‘the one’ and we were honestly blown away by the aesthetics of the venue,” explains Tuesday. “Richard and Claire have truly thought of everything when it comes to designing the perfect wedding venue – from the ultimate getting ready space in The Paddock to the simple yet elegant Cider Barn. We knew we wouldn’t need to spend lots on additional decoration as the beauty of the venue speaks for itself.”

On the morning of the wedding day, Tuesday and her bridal party made their way to The Paddock where their glam squad awaited. “Besides actually getting married, I absolutely loved getting ready with my favourite people in The Paddock!” reminisces Tuesday. Emma Roberts was on hand to create a soft and elegant make-up look with champagne eyes. Cindy Beddard worked her hair magic to whip up a stylish textured ponytail featuring a fishtail braid for this gorgeous bride, with a statement clip grip carefully secured in the side to complement her gown. Tuesday’s wedding dress was from Pirouette Bridal in Exeter – it was the perfect choice! “I went for a tight-fitted Maggie Sottero dress with lace detail, beaded straps and a stunning low back.” A pair of glittery heels from Charlotte Mills looked divine peeping out from under her dress. When it came to Tuesday’s wedding bouquet by Floral Art Devon, it was filled with spring pastels with an effortless ‘thrown together’ feel. “My bridal bouquet was so much more beautiful than my Pinterest vision,” explains Tuesday. The bridesmaids (who were wearing matching green PJs) transformed into sage green gowns from ASOS, while the groomsmen looked dapper in sand/brown tweed suits from Moss Bros.

Embracing a colour scheme of pretty spring pastels, the couple kept their décor simple yet impactful, with a DIY wedding welcome sign made from a chalkboard (which their friends got involved with helping the couple paint). Floral Art created the most beautiful flowers for the flower box at the front, as well as two floor flower designs which sat at either side of the ceremony table – these were later repurposed and moved to the top table throughout their reception. Hurricane vases at the end of the aisle also added a touch of romance to their ceremony space, where 60 of their friends and family watched Tuesday and Jamie exchange their vows. For their guest tables during the wedding breakfast, small vases filled with two or three flower buds added a country garden feel, along with gold candle holders with scented pastel candles. “We also had small gold frames for our table numbers and gold frames for our cake sign and guest book sign.”

One of Tuesday and Jamie’s friends performed during the drinks reception (and just before their evening guests arrived), whilst guests sipped on prosecco, Hawkstone, summer berry gin and lemonade. When it came to their wedding food, their loved ones were spoilt with an absolute feast by Mulberry Catering, including Darts Farm Roast Beef, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Pork Baps in the evening. Tuesday and Jamie also treated their loved ones with crowd-pleasing sweetie bags as wedding favours! As the evening drew in and the party got started, Tuesday and Jamie spent the night dancing with their guests to Real Events DJ. If they had any advice to offer you, the newlyweds would

say…

“Do not hesitate to book Upton Barn and book The Paddock – ALWAYS! Don’t let other people’s opinions alter what you want – it is your day. And when it comes to Upton, less is more!”
